deacons & Deaconesses

Here at ICGC Faith & Miracle Temple, we believe a Deacon or Deaconess must be a faithful servant and blameless example to the church who is appointed to serve. His or her qualifications and responsibilities have roots originating from the disputes within the early church but are necessary and relevant for the growth and administration of our church today.

The main function of our Deacons and Deaconesses is to assist our Pastor in the spiritual and administrative affairs of the Church.

Our Deacons and Deaconesses constituent the Deacons Board. The Deacons Board is the second highest policy making body of our church and one of the appellate bodies in all disciplinary matters affecting our members.

In addition, our Deacons & Deaconesses perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Serve as supervisors of our departments and ministries.
Be available to teach, pray and provide service when needed.
Assist with worship services, marriage ceremonies, funerals, special services, weekly prayer meetings, and bible studies.
Assist our pastor in easing any tensions or resolving conflict when conflict arises within the church.
Assist with the baptismal ceremonies.
Set up and prepare the table for the administration of the Lord's Supper.
To communicate with and visit members and families, as appropriate
Ensure that the pulpit is kept in an orderly manner.
Assist in welcoming, orientation, and follow-up for new disciples and to assist with their assimilation
